A modernised festive display introducing new technology and feature pieces.
In 2024, after almost a decade of working with Taunton through a series of tenders, we delivered a refreshed and more ambitious festive lighting scheme. Historically, the scheme was shaped by budget limitations, resulting in a more modest display made up of standard motifs and familiar elements. However, for the 2024 season, we developed a proposal using selected elements from previous concepts, paired with exciting new features to help elevate the overall experience.
Although there was no formal theme, councillor preferences guided the direction of the scheme. We advised on the options and curated a design that would maximise visual impact across key areas of the town. The introduction of RGB satellite controlled light string globes, kinetic elements, and strobe technology brought movement, depth and a more contemporary feel to the display.
The scheme built on Taunton’s long-standing tradition of featuring a Christmas tree and, in more recent years, large feature pieces. Starting with gift boxes introduced in 2021, these were followed by new feature reindeer in 2024, standing at an impressive 5m, which quickly became a standout attraction.
To support the increased scale and weight of the new scheme, parts of the town’s existing infrastructure required upgrading. These works were completed ahead of installation, ensuring the scheme could be delivered safely and effectively without compromising the design.
The 2024 installation is Taunton’s most impactful festive scheme to date. With bespoke design, new lighting technology and improved infrastructure, the town benefitted from a vibrant, modern display that created a memorable festive atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
