Belfast Case Study

A city-wide festive scheme creating a connected Christmas experience.

We were invited to design a festive lighting scheme for Belfast City, with the aim of creating a bold, city-wide display that would unite key streets, squares, and civic spaces. The brief focused on visibility, consistency, and ensuring a connected experience across primary retail routes and surrounding areas.

Working closely with city stakeholders, we delivered a scheme spanning over 60 streets, lanes, squares, and public spaces. Major thoroughfares such as Royal Avenue, Donegall Place, Great Victoria Street, High Street, and Dublin Road were complemented by extensive coverage across surrounding streets, creating a seamless festive journey for visitors.

The scheme used a layered mix of street crossings, column and wall-mounted motifs, light ceilings, and projections to create depth, rhythm, and animation. Light-dressed trees with snowfall tubes and stars added vertical scale, while architectural highlights and programmable festoon lighting brought cohesion across tighter streets and spaces without overcrowding the streetscape.

The resulting scheme is one of Belfast’s most extensive festive displays to date, balancing landmark streets with secondary areas to deliver city-wide impact. The combination of varied features and consistent design language created a vibrant, memorable festive experience that strengthened Belfast’s position as a must-visit Christmas destination.
